ABOUT

I am an entrepreneur, executive producer and advisor to entertainment, digital media and technology companies. I am currently Chief Strategy Officer at Trioscope, producer of premium film and TV, and the former CEO of Mondo Media, the leading digital distributor of animation for young adults and the author of The Adult Animation White Paper.  Here's a summary of my work experience...

RAISED SEED FINANCING ROUND FOR TRIOSCOPE

In 2021, I advised Trioscope on a raising a seed round, and on closing, assumed the role of Chief Strategy Officer for the company. Trioscope produces premium movies and television series using a unique stylized hybrid live action combined with computer generated backgrounds. The company is developing technology that will allow users to make their own in-world movies based on our IP. Trioscope is best known for The Liberator (Netflix, 2021), a WWII action series. The studio produced Night of the Cooters, a George RR Martin (creator of Game of Thrones) production and is in production on Takeover, a feature starring actor/musician Quavo, frontman for hip hop recording artist Migos, written by Jeb Stuart (Die Hard, The Fugitive).

LAUNCHED A PREMIUM ANIMATION TV CHANNEL WITH A TON OF ATTITUDE

In 2016, I negotiated a deal with Ellation (at the time owned by AT&T/Chernin - now owned by WarnerMedia) to produce and program a Mondo branded animation channel on VRV - a premium OTT platform for 18-34s. I put together the financing for the new content using co-production partnerships, tax credits, and international pre-sales and sales.

5.5 BILLION VIEWS AND COUNTING

I recognized early on that YouTube was going to be the "big dance" for short form video. I built a network of channels comprised of our main channel, foreign language channels and a curated network of third party channels. Today Mondo's channel on YouTube is arguably one of the top 5 most-viewed scripted channels on the platform.

TURNED A CUTE YELLOW BUNNY
INTO A KILLER FRANCHISE

In 2000, Kenn Navarro, a talented young animator straight out of San Francisco State, drew a crude picture of a yellow rabbit with the caption "Resistance is Futile." He was right. The Happy Tree Friends web series became a $50M licensing juggernaut that included everything from school supplies to a Sega game to pinatas. The property continues to thrive.

Packaged, produced and sold 3 TV Series

I put together the financing for Night Sweats a unique partnership between Adult Swim Canada, Blue Ant Media, YouTube and Mondo.  It was a compilation show designed as a pipeline for finding new TV Shows.  Gary and His Demons, the most promising property in the show, was spun off into its own series that now airs on the SYFY channel and Mondo’s channel on VRV.  I independently financed a TV series for Happy Tree Friends and sold, produced and aired Like Share Diea compilation show to Fusion TV.

Raised over $100M in Equity AND PROJECT Financing and Merged Mondo with 6PH Studios (pictured)

I have raised over $100M in project and equity investment in Mondo. In 2015, I merged San Francisco-based Mondo Media, a digital distribution company with 6PH Studios in Los Angeles. The LA studio is now the headquarters for the combined companies. I continue to serve on the Mondo board.

MADE TWO STICK FIGURES INTO A CULT HIT

Dick Figures originated as a short and quickly grew to over 350 million views on YouTube. The momentum was enough to generate a $325,000 raise on Kickstarter. Directed by Ed Skudder and Zack Keller, the movie was greenlit and produced at our studio in Los Angeles. The project was profitable within 3 months of its release.
